Fairport, NY – The Fairport Municipal Commission (FMC), in conjunction with the Independent Energy Efficiency Program, Inc. (IEEP), will offer a new ENERGY STAR® appliance rebate program called Fairport Municipal Commission Appliance Advantage.  This program’s goal is to encourage Fairport Electric residential customers to upgrade their appliances to ENERGY STAR® labeled models.  With the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR® labeled home appliance, FMC residential electric customers can receive incentives of up to $80 per appliance.  There is a maximum incentive of $2,000 per customer for this program.
The Fairport Municipal Commission has been offering energy efficiency programs to customers since the 1990’s. Ken Moore, FAIRPORT VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR  stated “We encourage our customers to buy energy efficient products like ENERGY STAR® labeled appliances, which in turn has a positive effect on the environment, reduces their electric costs, and system peak electric load.”
ENERGY STAR® labeled products use state of the art technology and require less money and less energy to operate, while still offering superior performance.  By choosing ENERGY STAR® labeled appliances, FMC electric ratepayers can make a difference in protecting the environment and reducing electric costs.  Incentives are available for air conditioners, ceiling fans, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, programmable thermostats, and refrigerators.
