Fairport Historic Preservation Commission

The Fairport Historic Preservation Commission (FHPC) is charged with the implementation of the Fairport Historic Preservation Law, passed in June of 2007.

The Commission seeks to protect, enhance and perpetuate Fairport landmarks and historic districts, in a manner consistent with our changing society, and by so doing promote the economic, cultural, educational and general welfare of the Village of Fairport and its residents.

Since being established in October 2007, the FHPC has developed a consistent set of procedures for a designation process, to ensure proper consideration of individual properties and to preserve structures that provide architectural beauty and significance to the area.

Note: Landmark designation applies to the exterior of a building that is visible from the public right of way. This law is designed to be flexible - a landmark property owner may apply for a certificate of appropriateness to make exterior alterations to his property.  For more inforamtion on the responsibilities of the FHPC refer to Government - Boards and Commissions.

Volunteer Commission & Meetings

FHPC is comprised of five volunteer members: Bill Barry, Doris Davis-Fritsch, William Poray, Charles Smith and Jean Whitney.

Meetings of the Commission are on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Fairport Municipal Commission Building, 43 Liftbridge Lane East and are open to the public.

For information on designated landmarks go to the Perinton Historical Society(PHS) website.
